Academy Road Insight

The Academy Road BIZ is excited to announce the publication of "Academy Road Insight", an upcoming e-newsletter that will be electronically sent out every few months to area residents and consumers throughout Winnipeg. Within the editorial will be information about businesses in the zone, new business openings, events and more. Please use the banner link on the left to sign up for Academy Road Insight. Watch for the first issue in April/May 2009.

Academy Road Live! 2009

Please join us on Saturday June 6th from Noon to 5:00 pm for our 10th Annual Academy Road Live! This is a fun family friendly street festival including street performers, face painting, a petting zoo, mascots, live music, and balloon tiers, carnival games and much more. Horse drawn wagon rides will be on-hand to transport people from one end of the BIZ to the other. (The street will remain open) Many shops offer their own creative components to the event. Past displays have included retail sidewalk sales, information kiosks, draws, food sampling, bands, and interactive demonstrations. One member also hosts his own mini-carnival with pony rides and an inflatable slide, in support of a local charity. Click here for event details (PDF).

Academy Road BIZ - Welcome Package

The Academy Road BIZ will be launching a Welcome Package in the Spring of 2009 which will be distributed to all businesses within the BIZ zone. Contents of the Welcome Package will include a list of current board members, an outline of the programs and budget for 2009, a list of business resources and important numbers, an outline of the BIZ website and ideas on how to promote YOUR business through the Academy Road BIZ.

Jenny Tasker, owner of Woodlands Gallery at 535 Academy Road, was presented with the "Mayor's Business Improvement Zone Award" for the Academy Road Biz. This prestigious award is presented annually to individuals, organizations and businesses that have made significant contributions to their local Business Improvement Zone. Awards are presented for exemplary work that contributes to the Business Improvement Zone programs in a variety of ways.
